I wrote these lyrics in the early 1980's during one of our many campaigns to save our parks from becoming traffic thoroughfares, cement pavilions and brick palaces. Chicago's motto is "Urbs in Horto," or City in A Garden; hence the title.
Musician Ron Combs wrote original music which I don't have here, and a couple of professional singers actually performed this on one of the morning drive time radio shows. I don't have this music but it would work with a lot of well-known tunes!
